- Permanent impairment
- A lasting after-effect assessed under a compensation scheme, distinct from temporary incapacity.
- Consolidation (of an injury)
- A term used in compensation to designate the point at which a person's condition is considered medically stabilised.
- Bureau d'évaluation médicale (BEM)
- A Quebec body that issues medical opinions in certain compensation files.
- Medical assessment / expert medical examination
- An examination carried out by a physician at the request of a party or a body, to produce a written report.
- Total disability
- A concept defined by the insurance contract or applicable plan; the definition varies between contracts.
